Dairy Queen Starts Social Media #BlizzardBattle

Dairy Queen's Apple Pie and Pumpkin Pie Blizzards are going head to head in a social-only marketing campaign. "Apple Capital" Wenatchee, Washington and "Pumpkin Capital" Caro, Michigan are pitted against each other in this #BlizzardBattle taking place on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. Audiences can either #VoteApple or #VotePumpkin all the way through September 29. Barry Westrum, DQ's Executive Vice President of Marketing, believes that the brand is strong enough to market products solely on social media platforms. Over the past year, DQ has grown its Facebook following by over a million fans and Twitter followers have increased fourfold.
